Downsizing from a Renault Scenic

I have had two Renault Scenics but now want to downsize. Must be automatic and, as I have disabled passenger, I need a higher seating position than a normal saloon or hatchback.

I rarely carry more than 1 passenger but often a lot of cargo so maximum boot/storage space and flexibility is desirable. May have to transport a wheelchair. I am considering a B-MAX (have not seen one yet) Honda Jazz as new, or Volkswagen Plus second hand.

Only do 4,000 miles a year, mainly town driving, and want to keep for a long time. (Renault has only done 40,000 but have had numerous and expensive problems so will not opt for another Renault).

Another review said it was a pity that the automatic version of the B-MAX was based on the 1.6 older version of something... what disadvantage or reliability question does that relate to?

Fuel economy not particularly relevant in view of limited mileage done; more interested in reliability and suitability of seating for ageing driver and disabled passenger/ flexibility for loading.
