Potholes

I recently suffered £900.00 of damage to my trike after hitting a deep pothole near where I live. I wrote to the Council explaining what had happened and attached a copy of the bill from the repairer, claiming compensation. They have rejected my claim without giving a reasonable explanation. I am tempted to sue them via the Small Claims procedure and wonder if you have any ideas as to how I should structure my claim. Check on www.fixmystreet.co.uk and www.potholes.co.uk to find out if the pothole had been previously notified to the council and not repaired within a 'reasonable' period of notification. Then you would have a strong basis for a claim. But a council is not responsible for every pothole that opens up in the road. Only for not repairing those it is notified of.
