My new car was stolen - what should I do?

I bought a 2nd and car from a well established garage in London. I then had the police seize the vehicle from me when I returned home, as it had a stolen engine, gearbox and wheels!

The guy who part exchanged the vehicle had stolen another car and fitted these to it, he is currently in custody and has a court case at the end of Aug. So it wasnt the garage that did this.

I have told the police I want nothing to do with the car, but now need to go down the route of getting my money back from the garage. I have been told by the police not to contact them, this was 2 weeks ago.

I need to start the process to see if i can get my money back, but dont want to get in trouble with the law, any advice on what I can do? I've tried contacting the police everyday and never get any calls back, so they arent really helping that much!

Thanks

See a solicitor. You need to take civil action via the small claims track of the county court to get your money back. Your problem is that the police are probably trying to implicate the garage and if they do it may end up assets for you to claim against. So your solicitor needs to talk to the police.
