Buying a Convertible for £5K. What should I consider?

I will soon be in the market for a nice convertible for between 5K and 6k.

Economy is important, as well as looks and a desirbale badge. I am drawn to a BMW 3 series 318, 2004, is there any particular reason why this would be a bad idea and if so what cars should i consider.
