I am thinking about buying an MX5 1.8 Coupe, what wheels do you recommend 16 or 17 inch for comfort ?

In your 2005 Mazda MX5 review you stated that the 1.8 litre had a more comfortable ride over the 2.0 litre model with 17 inch wheels and sport suspension.I am thinking of buying a 1.8 2010 model which I guess would be in my budget of up to £13,000,what wheels should I look for in terms of the best ride and what would the 17 inch wheels be like without the sports suspension. I do get much pleasure in reading your articles and reports.

That 2005 review was for 2005 cars and specifically mentions the Yokahama tyres on the 1.8. It specifically details the size as 205/50 R16. The car was improved for 2009, with specific improvements to the suspension, so the comments on s 2005 car cannot apply to a 2010. Test of the 2010 here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/mazda/mazda-mx5-20.../ I would go for the 2.0 Sport with the Bilstein suspension. That really felt like a sports car.
