Water leak after fitting roof bars

I bought a new Fiesta 1.6 TDCI S in March from Ford. It was a year old,but only had delivery mileage, making me its first owner, with 2 years warranty remaining.

Two weeks ago I fitted genuine Ford roof bars to the car and it now leaks into the boot when raining and the headlining feels damp. The car was fine pre installation of the bars.

I have fitted bars to the letter of the supplied instructions. I contacted Ford who have said they only cover water ingress for ONE YEAR and are telling me I'll have to pay for remedial work and even the inspection at £75 + VAT per hour.

Have you come across any similar problems with this model?

No. But it's obviously coming in at some point where the integrity of the roof is breached. So you need to make sure you waterproof all those points.
