Vanishing Golf TSI coolant
Golf 1.4 TSi parked on steep hill, nose downward, for a day. Next morning, turned ignition key on and there was an audible warning and temperature warning light illuminated. Moved car about 100 yards to car park and checked coolant level on expansion tank which was about half an inch below the 'Min' level mark. No evidence of leaks from hoses etc.
Contacted VW garage who advised me to top up with water. Did this and have since driven the car over 300 miles with no warnings and without the coolant level dropping! Mystified, I contacted VW in Sheffield where car bought new in September 2011. They can offer no explanation. What is going on please?

It has a water cooled turbo and if you switched it off when the turbo was very hot it could have boiled the coolant inside itself, created an airlock, and blown some coolant out of the expansion tank pressure cap.
