Which small car?
What small car up to 1.4 litre would you recommend? I have about £8000 to spend.
I thought about an Audi A3 1.4 TFSI or a SEAT Ibiza 1.4 Sport Coupe but you have said there are reliability issues with the engine on older models.
Has this been fixed on newer versions or should I stay away completely? If not are the Audi 1.6 engines reliable?

Has been fixed on newer versions from around 2009. But twincharger 1.4s have their own problems. If I was you I'd go for a Mazda 2 1.3TS2 and try to get a late 2010 version or newer because they are just £30 tax. Very likeable and huge fun to drive.
