Buying post-Olympics BMWs

The papers are reporting that up to 4,000 BMW vehicles will be used for the Olympics. Not all cars of course, but how do you expect BMW to dispose of 3 and 5 Series models after the event? What is the best way to source a barely used model, assuming that greater supply reduces the price?

UPDATE: We've since found out that the Olympic fleet won't be distributed into the dealer network or auctioned off - the cars instead being sold on to the London 2012 organising committee and the Olympic volunteers, along with BMW’s corporate partners and employees. - www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/miscellaneous/2012-08/wh.../

Good thinking. The vehicles are all low emission models, but BMW will be smart about the way it redistributes them. It holds regular auctions of 'Helphire' fleet BMWs (www.british-car-auctions.co.uk/bmw) I doubt its dealers will be able to absorb all 4,000, so they may auction some and stagger the way others are fed into the dealer chain. Start looking out for advertisments in the last two weeks of August.
