Parking Fine At Services

I have today received through the post from CP Plus a CHARGE NOTICE.
This is for parking at the Clacket Lane South Services for 39 mins over the allowed / free 2 hour time limit.

The payment requested is for £80.00 but will be reduced to £50.00 if paid within 14 days, or if not paid within 28 days will increase by £40.00 to £120.00.; The two photo's on the notice show my car entering and leaving the services but not actually in the bay I was parked in.

I have read on the net different opinions as to if this notice is enforcable and there is a clip of Watchdog with Anne Robinson and a legal person showing the ticket being made into a paper aeroplane.

I don't wish to end up being taken to court for hundreds of pounds but at the same time don't want to part with £50.00 unless I really have to. £50.00 for 39mins over works out at £1.28p per minute.

If I just ignore it do you think they are likely to pursue it or could it costs me more in the long run.

It's an outrage, I have challenged motorway service operators about this and received a reply that should be published in late June. I want the period of free parking extended to at least 4 hours so when a motorist sees a government sign "Tiredness can kill. Take a break" he can actually take a break at a motorway service area and not be penalised for doing so.

In your case, allow your case to go to court and defend yourself, stating you were following government orders at a government appointed rest area. The only reason for the 2 hour limit is so that the parking enforcement agency can make money out of it.
