Off road tyres for a BMW X3
I am being offered an F25 X3 as a company car but I need it to be able to get through the snow that we get here in the peak district (6 inches on the roads for most of the winter). Can you fit off-road or all-terrain tyres to an F25? I've tried winter tyres on other cars before - they're fine on compacted snow/ice but for deeper snow only all-terrain type tyres seem to be any good.
The F25 tyre size is 225/60/17 but in that size I can't find anything other than road tyres, which would be completely useless to me.

When we drove one back through the snows of the Austria Alps in November 2010 it was on 245/50 R18 Pirelli Sottozeros, which are high performance winter tyres. Very expensive, but they certainly worked. BMW does winter wheel and tyre packages. If you can get a 17-inch steel wheel with full winter tyre package for the F25, that's what I would go for. See what you mean about the sizes. Michelin does 235/60 R17a and 225/65 R17 Latitudes, but not your exact size. On the last winter tyre test, the Evoques were on 235/60 R18s.
