Burning oil

I have a 52 plate mondeo 2.0-litre TDCI 130 hatchback.

The problem I have is that it is burning oil.

The car has done 231,000 miles and I have had the injectors recoded 4 times in the last 18 months. The engine starts fine. The car seems to smoke after a run (constant speed and revs) when I ease off on the revs this is when it blows out quite a bit of smoke.

This lasts for a few seconds. Also, when pulling away from junctions it seems to happen aswell.

I have no idea of what could be wrong, I have been told by a friend that as it starts ok (even in the freezing temperatures we have had) it wont be the rings as if the rings were on there way out then I would have problems starting.

So is there anyone out there that can try and shed some light on the matter.

Or is it time for new car or a new engine?!
