Replacement family car - what should we go for?
I currently I drive a C4 Grand Picasso 1.6 HDi EGS Exclusive. We have been extremely happy with the vehicle, the ride and build quality, etc. and are in part quite reluctent to let it go.
However in recent months the fuel economy as dropped dramitically to 33 mpg in town and 36 mpg on the motorway. Its been to the dealer no end and still no resolution and in short I am very dissapointed in Citroen. It's not as though the car has had a tough life (50k over 3.5 years).
We will be trading in the old girl and we're looking to top up the payment to around 10 - 12k.
That does mean we will be looking at anything between 6 months and 2.5 years old. But may consider a few extra thousand for a worthwhile nearly new car.
We commute around 15 - 75 miles per day (varies) and can be either in town traffic jams to free flowing motorways. We clock anything between 14k and 20k in a year.
Key for me is quality, comfort, and I don't really care about a sporty drive. Lower insurance brackets always a bonus (every penny counts these days).

I was so amazed at the Mazda 5 1.6D TS2 on the launch that I ordered one and have remained amazed for 9 months. Incredibly comfortable, easy to get in and out of, excellent ride quality, superb bump absorption, fine handling, reasonable performance and 45mpg.
