Qashqai or Golf?
We have test driven the Golf 1.4 TSI and Qashqai 1.5 dCi N-TEC and love them.
This car purchase will be for the next 5 years plus. We are husband and wife with one two-year-old son and a mother-in-law who we take out at weekends. We do low millage in the week but go for a drive most sundays.

The N-tec is on stupid bling wheels that crash over speed humps and potholes. Best avoided. Lower spec 16" wheels much better. Golfs are usually on 16". Also the 1.5DCI suffers DPF problems if used for repeated short runs from cold. Better to go for a base spec 1.6DCI 130 for the same sort of money, as that engine has new technology to overcome DPF problems. It's also chain cam, not belt.

Comfortable and quiet on the move, enjoyable to drive. Nicely trimmed with great attention to detail. 1.4 TSI sweeter to drive than a diesel.
