I have run a Hyundai Coupe for the last two years. It has been a good car, well specified, tough and comfortable on long journeys. Age now dictates something easier to enter and exit and suitable for mild off road fishing activities. I am considering buying an ix35 4WD 2.0CRDI 6-speed manual. Does this have a chain cam engine? Will I have to bear in mind the particulate filter problems on 15-mile journeys to the river and back? Every 6 weeks I do a round trip of 400 motorway miles. I know you have a high opinion of the BMW F25 X3 but I do not wish to go to such expenditure if I can avoid it.

Yes, all Hyundai ix35s (and all current Hyundais) have chain cam engines. But the 2.0 4WD has been hard to get because of engine supply problems. 15 miles should be okay for the DPF. Never heard of any DPF problems on the ix35.
