Thanks for recommending McGard to repair my Volvo XC90's locking wheel nuts.

Thank you for your recent plug for McGard in your Daily Telegraph column. Shortly afterwards my local garage mangled my locking wheel nuts and destroyed the key. McGard (www.mcgard.com) sent me a new key after I had returned the original and sent them a photo of the damaged locking wheel nuts absolutely free of charge under warranty. Given that the vehicle is a 2005 Volvo XC90 I rate this as outstanding service. One word of warning though. The replacement key came with a fact sheet that stated that impact wrenches should not be used. Is that what the air tools used by garages are? If so your readers may do well to remove their locking wheel nuts before cars go for service perhaps.

Yes. What often happens is the airline impact wrench is set to tighten rather than slacken and that's what smashes up the lock nuts.
