Which car would you recommend for my wife who needs easy wheelchair access and room for a dog?

Could you advise me what car to get for my wife who works for blind children? We currently have a Toyota Auris, which my wife uses for her job, but she is struggling to get wheelchairs and the Labrador guide dog in.

It depends how big it needs to be. You can get a folded wheelchair into the centre of a Honda Jazz or the larger Honda Civic because the rear seat squabs fold upwards and that would still leave space for a dog in the load area. But, of course you would then only be able to carry one passenger, in the front. If she needs something altogether more spacious: a Citroen Berlingo Multispace, a Peugeot Partner Combi, a Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Life, or Renault Kangoo Combi that now comes in three lengths.

Practical and comfortable cabin, huge amounts in interior space, great 2.2 i-CTDi diesel engine, well built and reliable, enjoyable to drive.
Neatly styled. Increased room and better performance than original Jazz. better to drive. Very versatile. CVT-7 returned in February 2011 replacing i-SHIFT. More reliable than first generation Jazz.
Unpretentious, roomy holdhall that rides well. Excellent value.
Decent combination of ride and handling that might suit some people better than a harder sprung Golf or a Civic. A few inches taller than a Golf of Focus so easier to get in and out.
