I live in a hilly rural area with local access being a problem in icy/snow conditions. I also have to travel to rural schools as part of my job. I want to change my car but don't want a big fuel guzzling 4x4. I have thought about a car that converts from 2-wheel-drive to 4-wheel-drive when required and have looked at the Nissan Qashqai. I have tried to find out about which cars are recommended but have not had much luck. I need a medium sized family car, that is fairly economical to run and which also will be able to cope with ice/snow conditions. I have a budget of around £12,000 so I appreciate it will most likely be secondhand. I would very much appreciate your advice.
