In 2010 I ordered a 2.0 petrol Nissan Qashqai Tekna CVT 2WD. This was to replace a car of the same specification as I had been very pleased with the first. Delivery was quoted at 14 weeks and I went to collect the car. It turned out to be a manual, not a CVT. The garage accepted the fault, and, as I had already transferred my original car to my son, suggested that I keep the manual and that they would order another Qashqai that, on delivery, they would swop for the car I had at no cost to myself. This seemed a reasonable offer and I agreed. The current situation is that Nissan is not accepting any orders for a Qashqai CVT, nor can anyone say when or if that situation will change. Do you have any information as to what the future use of CVT will be?

Even before the earthquake in Japan, Nissan temporarily suspended orders for Qashqai and Juke 2WD CVT automatics due to huge demand from the USA and from Russia that was overwhelming the CVT factory's capacity. A second CVT production facility is being built.
