Should we replace our 2002 Jazz with the latest model?
We have had a Honda Jazz 1.4 SE since 2002 and, apart from two fairly minor problems (an EGR valve problem, which you identified, and a rear wheel bearing failure) have had trouble-free motoring since purchase. The car has fulfilled everything we required of it, high access, economy, conversion to a van with the 'magic seats' etc. OK, the ride is firm, but I understand this has been addressed in later models.
Now in our 60s we are looking for a new vehicle and the latest version of the Jazz, despite the bewildering range of options, still looks our best bet. We do a lot of 'local' mileage, combined with some regular long distance jaunts, usually in France. Given that this is likely to be our last car before we decide we're a menace on the road, or 'pop our clogs', can you offer any other suggestions? I have mobility problems and need high access, but apart from that economy, reliability and space are particularly valuable. We both still enjoy the control of a manual gearbox.

You're right. The new Jazz is not only better looking than the old Jazz, it's a better car and has just got better with the options of leather seats, satnav and a CVT-7 automatic transmission (rather than the I-Shift). It now feels like a little limo, I can’t think of a better retirement car. The alternatives are a Nissan Note, KIA Venga and Hyundai ix20.
