Why can't I get a single replacement driver's floor mat for my car? Should I write to Trading Standards?

I assume you get lots of emails complaining about having to buy a set of four car mats when you only want to replace the driver’s mat. This is another one. When are car manufacturers going to do the decent thing? A car mat set costs £40-odd for three mats you don't need. I will happily pay £20 for a drivers mat on its own. I even wrote to my MP, Theresa Villiers, but the letter was ignored. Would writing to the Trading Standards office help? Is there a petition I can sign?

Only about one email every six months. But you're right. All anyone ever really needs is a replacement driver's mat.
