Starting trouble - can you help?

I'm having trouble starting my Ford Focus in the mornings. I've changed the battery, but it sounds like the engine is struggling to turn over. However, once it has started (jump leads), it will start every time - although still sluggish on turnover.

A whining noise does occur on start up though. I'm thinking starter motor.

Would suggest that you check both battery leads for good connection (especially the earth). Also check the connections to the starter motor.

Are you getting any warning lights showing ie Glow plugs?
If not would suggest that you get a diagnostic check carried out in the first instance as this may then show up the fault by code.

While that is being done (at a garage) then they should be able to check out the starter motor.
