Check Emissions warning

I have a continuous warning for check emissions although the car is running fine.
My local independent garage ran a diagnostic check & came up with a DF209 code which is EGR Valve Position Circuit. As car was running ok they reset the code but it came back up after a couple of days. Not sure what to do now as the garage said they could change the valve but it would cost over £300. Must have been running the car for best part of a year with the warning now so not sure if necessary although warning must be caused by something?

Well unfortunately it is impossible to access the fault codes for this car(other than dealerships) so cannot confirm the DF209 code.
Given the situation you may want to agree with the garage ref the renewal of the valve on the understanding that it will surely clear the problem, and if it doesn't then you don't have to pay them.
