What small hybrid do you recommend as a long term purchase?

My 28 year olf daughter has had an automatic licence for a while and now needs a car/small SUV having moved to an area that is no longer commutable by public transport. Like everyone else she wants reliability, safety and low running costs for her first car which will also need to be Euro 6 compliant - but won’t be going full electric due to living in a rented flat. So is looking for an automatic petrol self charging hybrid that she intends to drive for at least 10+years - max cost £15k. She is also tall and would like a car that doesn’t impact her ability to have a couple of passengers, finally being able to take her turn as designated driver - some of the smaller cars look too snug in a normal seating position, let alone with the drivers seat pushed back. But doesn’t want ‘a boat’ like her parents (we have a Sportage and very happy with it). Any ideas much appreciated.

If your daughter finds the Kia Sportage a bit of a 'boat', the smaller Kia Niro could be worth considering - there are plenty of hybrid examples available for under £15,000, and they're decent in terms of space without being too large. The Toyota Yaris Cross could also be an option, although it's a bit smaller and there aren't many for under £15k.
