Should new tyres be fitted to the front or rear?
MKy Astra is now over 7 years old but has only done 25000 miles. At the recent MOT which it passed they said that the rear tyres were perishing and cracking due to age. I changed the fronts two years ago, but if I buy two new rear tyres should the new tyres go on the rears or should they go on the front and the front tyres on the rear. There is still plenty of tread on the old rear tyres.

If you are replacing two tyres on your vehicle the recommendation is that you fit the new tyres to the rear wheels, as this reduces the chance of oversteer in slippery conditions which is more difficult to control than understeer.
