Can you recommend a vehicle preferably an estate that I can occasionally put a Trek Rail mountain bike (without having to take the wheels off or otherwise disassemble the bike). I am going to miss the looks, speed and handling of my MK3 Audi TT and I’m hoping to find something, dare I say more comfortable, not embarrassing and a pleasure to drive. I do modest 4 or 5 thousand miles a year. I’ve been looking at either a VW Passat, Skoda Octavia or Audi A4 Avant - am I correct in thinking that these are longer and more able to accommodate a bike or DIY clobber than a SUV? My budget is the TT (about £15K) plus £5K and am considering a plugin hybrid, making good use of our solar roof panels.
