Excess oil consumption on an Audi
I have recently bought an Audi A4 Avant Quattro. Before I purchased it I was warned that some cars of this model use a lot of oil in the first 500 kilometeres or so. Audi even supply a litre of oil just in case. Having done some 1500 kilometers I checked the oil and added about three quarters of a litre as it was low.
This is the first time I have had a similar experience.
Why should this happen?

Because they fill the engines with Longlife oil on the production line and the oil rings don't bed in very well.
