Hoda Accord rear discs
I've been driving for 40 years and today for the first time I have been told that my car needs new rear discs. Even more surprising to me is that it is a 2008 Honda Accord with 28,000 miles on the clock. The dealer service manager suggested that a caliper had overheated and damaged the disc. When pressed he said that this could have been due to grit from the hard winter or "any one of a number of factors" and that "this is not a warranty repair". I do know that harder pads used nowadays can cause disc wear, but my last 5 cars (which had all been dealer demonstrators) have all gone above 90k miles without needing new discs and this does seem exceptional.

Very common because rear brakes do little work so overnight rust does not get wiped off by the brake pads.
