Can dashcam footage of speeding be used to prosecute?

Dash cams record the speed of the vehicle, can this evidence be used to prosecute a motorist for speeding?

Some dashcams do record the vehicle's speed using GPS, which in theory could be used by the police to prosecute, although it would require the driver to volunteer the footage themselves.
