Mazda 6 or Peugeot 508?

I was initially planning to buy a new 508 saloon, but my father is driving a Mazda 6 (version 1 from 2009 - not the facelifted version).

So we went to try out a new 2011 Mazda 6 sport and I have to say I was mind blown by the difference compared to the version 1 from 2008-2009. Handling felt smoother, quality was better (leather seats), comfort was really nice (I am 6'3" tall) and the car had more than enough power.

On the other side, I really love the new Peugeot 508 because it has a standard navigation screen + many other nifty things (EMG, lower fuel consumption than the Mazda 6). It was also pleasantly quiet, and once used to the EMG gearbox, it was a really pleasant ride as well.

My question is which one should I buy? I feel like those 2 cars are meant for 2 different kinds of people! Mazda feels to me as if it is for the more sportier ones, while Peugeot is a typical cruiser. Which one would you choose? I plan to drive one of these cars for the next 3-5 years and therefore I seek advice from an experienced guy like you. A quick answer would be the top of the chocolate cake!

The 508 EMG uses the 1.6 diesel. The point of it is is huge economy and low tax with a big car. I actually got 65mpg from one. A Mazda 6 has a chain cam rather than belt cam engine and could be more reliable long-term, but won't be as economical until the new Skyactive engines come on line.
