Do I have to pay car tax if I receive a Severe Disability Payment?

I'm 77 and have been awarded severe disability payment by DWP, it's paid as GPC on top of pension and Attendance Allowance. Should I qualify for free car Excise Duty, due to my condition I can't get out without my car so essential or I become housebound. I only do about 600 miles a year for essential use such as shopping, getting to doctors or hospital as in rural area.

You are entitled to exemption from Vehicle Excise Duty if you are in receipt of the higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA), enhanced rate mobility component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), enhanced rate mobility component of Adult Disability Payment (ADP), War Pensioners Mobility Supplement or Armed Forces Independence Payment.
