Long time standing

I have a 2003 Renault Clio 1.6 automatic which has done only 11,000 miles. It has not turned a wheel in three-years. I have replaced the battery and the key fob is working, ie it locks /unlocks the car.

When I turn the ignition key with my foot on the brake all the relevent dash lights come on but nothing happens, just the odd click from the passenger side.

The gear knob is in park but it will not move into any other position unless I remove the gear stick cowling and press the button underneath.

Disconnect the battery, then make sure it is fully charged.

Then replace on the car BUT DO NOT switch anything on at all.Leave the car for 30 mins then try to start the engine.

This allows the ECU (engine management system) to reset itself.
