Do Japanese imports have corrosion protection?

Do imported cars from Japan such as 2015-2018 Volvo V40 and Volkswagen Golf have less corrosion protection that the equivalent UK models? Apparently salt is not used to de-ice roads in Japan

Vehicles sold in Japan typically have less rust-proofing than vehicles sold in the UK because salt is not used on the roads in cold weather. Although this means that Japanese imports may have less or no rust compared to an equivalent UK car, they are more susceptible to corrosion once in the UK and would require rust protection.
