Can I exchange my French driving licence back to a UK one?

I held a UK full car licence for many years but post-Brexit had to exchange for a French one (December 2022). I have now moved back to UK and need to reverse this process. As I am over 70, it will be a three year licence.

According to the DVLA website it seems quite straightforward, though it involves a paper form. I have no medical issues to be considered.

My questions are:

1. Do you know how long the process takes, assuming all documents correctly submitted
2. Can I drive in the meantime (my French licence would still be valid as regards expiry date and points incurred). What documents should I have to hand to show the authorities, if needed, whilst the changeover is taking place?
3. Any other observations?

You can begin this process via the DVLA website here: www.gov.uk/exchange-nongb-driving-licence The information suggests this will take approximately three weeks, but it is sensible to allow for it to take longer than this. You can continue to drive while your application is with the DVLA as long as you meet all the criteria listed under Section 88 of the Road Traffic Act, which are listed here: assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/64edcf3a13a...f
