Is buying a Japanese imported VW from a UK dealer advisable?

There are advantages and disadvantages to buying a Volkswagen Golf imported from Japan. You might find that insurance is more expensive, while there may be some peculiarities to the specification. You may also find that the infotainment system is different to a UK-spec one. You might also find it more difficult to sell in the future. On the plus side, Japanese import cars are usually more affordable than UK-spec cars. And they've often been looked after, while the importer should have tackled any issues to make it road legal in the UK. If the price is right, it could be a good purchase.
