Buying a new or nearly new family car

I'm going to be driving 25,000 - 30,000 miles per year (mostly motortway), and will be looking to buy a reliable and economical medium family car.

I currently drive an 04 plate Golf TDi with 78,000 on the clock and I am looking at either new or nearly new, with badge not an issue.

For this sort of mileage the economy of a diesel will make a significant difference. I'd go for a BMW 320dED.
