Is it illegal for a garage not to road test a customer's car after a brake overhaul?

There is no law that requires a garage to road test a vehicle after repair work has been carried out, but garages do have a responsibility to ensure that work carried out on safety-critical components is performed to a standard where the vehicle is safe to use on the road and complies with road laws.
If you feel your vehicle was repaired inadequately we would suggest writing a letter of complaint to the garage, and taking your complaint to Trading Standards if you feel the actions of the garage were particularly sub-standard.
