Is glass coating worth it?

I'm buying a Lexus RC300. The dealers all say glass coating is the best protection for the bodywork, giving them a nice commission on the sale.
Is it actually worth it and does it protect as well as is claimed?

Glass coating protection generally offers a high level of durability and shine compared to ceramic coatings, but ceramic coatings are regarded as offering better hydrophobic characteristics. Ultimately it is a personal decision whether or not to invest in the protection of your paintwork, but you may wish to consider what the cost would be if you went to an independent provider and compare this to the dealer cost.
