Is Autoglym LifeShine worth it?
I'm buying a second hand Mitsubishi Outlander (2019 plate), the car is metallic black and the body work is in excellent condition.
I have been asked if I would like Autoglym Lifeshine, is it worth the £500 price tag for this coating? The salesman seems to think it is a worthwhile expenditure, they retail high end cars (this was a part ex they took in) I'm wincing at the price and wondering if its worthwhile on a older SUV.....

Autoglym Lifeshine is a bit more advanced than a typical paint protection package offered by some dealers, hence why it is more expensive. Whether you go for it depends on how you plan to use the car and if you like to keep it clean. It puts a protective coating on the paintwork, glass and all interior fabrics which comes with a lifetime guarantee and will always make your car much easier to clean - and Autogylm will reapply it under the terms of its warranty for the life of the car. It will certainly protect your paintwork and interior for when you come to resell, but the value for money aspect is subjective. You don't strictly need it and there's a tidy commission in it for the supplying dealer, but the product itself is well-respected. We'd suggest finding a local car valet/detailing company who can do this for you at a much cheaper price - many are mobile so will come to your house and in our experience do a far better job than dealerships.
