Is our 2002 Toyota Yaris ULEZ compliant?

We have a 2002 Toyota Yaris and the ULEZ site indicates that it is exempt, despite the V5C showing it is Euro 3

We have used it a few times within the new ULEZ zone with no fines. How safe do you think we are are to continue using this car in new ULEZ?

Not all petrol engined cars need to be classed as Euro 4 compliant to meet ULEZ standards - it all depends on the model's nitrous oxide emissions. Our records show that post-2001 Yaris 1.3 VVTis comply with the NoX levels required by ULEZ so you should be able to continue to use the car within the ULEZ zone with impunity, especially if the Transport for London ULEZ Checker shows it to be compliant.

The DVLA published NoX emissions on the V5C from 2001 onwards and all cars with emissions of 0.08g/km of NoX should be ULEZ-compliant regardless of Euro status. All Euro 4 cars MUST meet this standard.
