Can you recommend a new or used 4x4?

I'm looking to buy a new or used 4x4. My budget is around £350 per month. My weekly drive isn't much, just a 20-mile round commute, but I plan go camping at weekends. I don't need a big Land Rover Discovery-sized car but something that is going to be able to handle the smaller runs without it messing up the filter systems. Any recommendations?

Diesel cars generally need regular, long runs to keep the diesel particulate filter (DPF) healthy. I'd recommend minimum trips of 15 miles or more, otherwise the DPF may fails to complete its regeneration cycle (which burns off the soot that accumulates and this risks the filter clogging up.

I can't recommend any specific PCP or HP finance deals, but I think the Toyota RAV4 petrol hybrid might suit your needs. It has four-wheel drive and the petrol hybrid system is appropriate for the usage you've described. Toyota also has an excellent reputation for reliability.
