Mondeo Estate Electrical Fault
The tailgate on a 2002 Mondeo 2.0 TDDI estate has started to open without being commanded to do so. It can happen when my son unlocks his car or when he is on the motorway, and it 'springs' itself without warning or pattern. It is probably unconnected, but the nearside front window has also stopped working (perhaps not at the same time). I am going to look first for a chafed wire or a bad earth somewhere around the boot lid, but don't really have an idea if anything will be obvious until I strip it down. Does anyone have anything more specific in mind to look at first? I wouldn't try to do anything with the control module anyway, but am guessing that it is not faulty because everything else seems to be working OK. Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved.

Moisture in the rear locking electrics. Happens a lot with electric tailgate releases because of the huge amount of moisture thrown up at the back of the car. Try Water Dispersant 40. Or even a hairdryer.
