Best replacement for Suzuki Wagon R+?

My wife has had Wagon Rs for the past 18 years, and we are looking to replace the current one, Our budget is up to £7000 and we are looking for a five seater, reliable car with good mpg.

Looking through your website we would probably choose the Volkswagen Up but it only has four seats and is a bit small. The current favourite is the Nissan Note with the 1.2 petrol engine but it seems that whatever we look at has some engine issues or is poor for Real MPG. What would be your choice?

A Honda Jazz sounds like it'd tick a lot of boxes for you. We rate it highly - it's a really comfortable, versatile small car with low running costs and a strong reliability record. You'll get a late example of the 2008-2015 model within budget. Honda did sell a hybrid version but we'd recommend sticking to petrol - there are plenty about and the 1.4 engine is pretty economical, anyway.

As an alternative, we'd recommend a Ford Fiesta. It's a more conventional small car but there's a reason it's so popular - it's cheap to run and generally a very good all-rounder. The 1.25-litre petrol is the one to go for in terms of reliability.
