Can I overcoat my car's ceramic paint finish?
Apparently, I am a rare breed who enjoys cleaning and keeping my car in pristine condition!
I am now 81 and tend to change my car every 1-2 years - I suppose you could say it is a hobby/pastime. Usually, I give a new acquisition the clay bar treatment initially but my latest car is a 2014 Jaguar XJ in like new condition. It received a Supaguard treatment six years ago and still looks good but I think I could improve on it.
Can I overcoat it with a ceramic product without impairing the existing finish or is there some preparatory work I should do first?

As the Supaguard treatment was applied six years ago it's likely the sealant has since dissolved. However, you can check by pouring water over a horizontal panel (bonnet, bootlid or roof) and seeing if the water beads tightly and rolls off quickly or not. If it does bead there is still a fair amount of sealant left.
We would recommend purchasing a clay bar to remove old wax/sealant as it's the most effective method. Wash the car thoroughly prior to using the clay bar, however. It's beneficial to do this before applying a new ceramic product.
