Can you recommend a reliable used car?
I need to replace my current Mercedes-Benz E-Class with a vehicle suitable for a 91-year-old passenger, (plus others) which can also carry a motorised scooter and other holiday luggage, but must be very reliable. Running cost is not so much of an issue as annual mileage is less than 5,000.

Without knowing your budget or other preferences it's difficult to narrow a car down. However, we'd be looking at a mid-size to large SUV for this kind of role, particularly as these taller bodied cars are much easier to get into and out of for the elderly. In terms of reliability, brands such as Lexus, Skoda, Toyota Kia and Hyundai have all performed strongly on that front in our Satisfaction Index. Some recommendations include the Kia Sportage/Sorento, Hyundai Tucson/Santa Fe, Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota RAV4 and Lexus RX - all should offer you the space, comfort and reliability you need and can be had with reliable petrol or hybrid power.
