What is the shelf life of diesel?
I have just found a couple of gallons of diesel oil at the back of my shed. This is probably about 6 or 7 years old. Will it still be OK to use (in my 10 year old Mercedes)?

This would be a very bad idea, in my opinion.
Diesel has a shelf life of around six to 12 months before it starts to degrade. After six or seven years, I'd guess that the diesel has become contaminated with water and bacteria. You should not put this gunk into your car's engine.
As for disposal, you'll need to contact your local recycling centre. Not all sites will accept it but they may know of the nearest one that does.

A friend has suggested that I use the above but would welcome your comments. I drive a BMW 420i cabriolet auto and a Toyota Aygo X auto. I rarely use supermarket petrol and mostly use BP or Jet.
I have heard that supermarket fuel damages the fuel injectors and its best to use non supermarket fuel - is this true?
