How reliable is a used BMW E61?

Are there any major failings as far as the BMW E61 520D 2007 is concerned? I am considering buying one with 50,000 miles on the clock. What points should I look out for, and what sort of price should I be paying for a car in good condition?

Swirl flaps are a big one to look out for, they're plastic and snap with age. As far as I remember, you can seal them off with blanking plates.

Expect to pay around £6,000-£8,000 for a car of that age and mileage, depending on condition and specification.
