Slippery slope

We are shortly hoping to move to the country. I am thinking of changing my Skoda Octavia Estate TDI for the 4x4 version. The new house is a bit off the main road but not that you would need a Land Rover type vehicle - just something to get up a very steep hill which is often slippery in winter. Do you have any thoughts on/experience of the Skoda Estate 4x4 or could you please recommend a car with 4x4 about the same budget that would do the job?
