Small by four

My parents (73 yrs and 69 yrs) would like to buy a small automatic diesel car or small 4wd with up to £7,500. They used to have a Suzuki Vitara (diesel auto) - something perhaps a little smaller would be perfect. Do you have any suggestions please?

Daihatsu Terios auto and Suzuki Jimny auto. Neither recommended, but they do exist. Jimnys are excellent off road and in snow, but not otherwise.
