“…and none were spared.”
I ordered a Skoda Octavia (Elegance) through my local Dealer in early July, selecting the model detailed in Skoda's brochure effective 1st April - 30th June 2009 and took delivery a few days ago. I am delighted with the vehicle but astonished that contrary to the brochure specification, the full size alloy spare wheel is not included. In its place is a TMS repair kit and electric compressor. Neither the owner's manual or the supplement detailing technical changes from 05/2009 make any reference to a is change of spec. The dealer tells me a Factory Bulletin was circulated a few weeks ago (after my vehicle had been ordered) advising that a Spare Wheel was no longer part of the standard spec, but could be ordered as an 'optional extra'. This bulletin also stated that orders already in production could not be amended. I have no wish to rely on the TMS kit so am forced to purchase a spare wheel, jack etc. It seems to me that Skoda (and probably, VW, Audi and SEAT) are ‘spoiling the ship for a ha'p'orth of tar’. What do you think?

Well known problem. Spacesaver spares complete with jacking kit from www.skospares.com or www.theskodashop.co.uk Interestingly another VAG product, the new VW Polo, comes with a full size spare wheel due to "customer demand".

I've just had my Skoda Yeti serviced and they said my puncture repair kit had reached it's expiry date. They quotes £64 for a new kit, is it really necessary to replace it?
The space saver-tyre, from new, has never been out of the boot other then for top-up of air. I am considering replacing it with a standard wheel/tyre(matching existing tyres of 185/55R15 82V).

I can’t see the point of space-saver emergency wheels. A wheel well has to be large enough to take the road wheel when the space-saver is fitted so they do not save space. Also, an alloy road wheel only...
